A Happier Moment :)

Here's a more attractive image of my little princess from the 6 month shots we did a couple weeks ago :) I'm finally starting to edit some of these, so you might see a few over the next few days!

Not for the faint of stomach!

Yesterday Priya was playing happily in her crib after her morning nap. When I went in to get her, this is what I found! What you can't see is the poo on the crib wall as well as all over the bumper pad! Yum! :P

And another thing....!

This photo is from a few weeks ago and was on my phone, but I liked it and thought I'd share :)

Our little girl has been in the habit of waking once or twice in the middle of the night for a bottle. But other than the fiasco of last week when she was teething hard core, she usually just takes the bottle and quickly falls back to sleep without any problems. Occasionally when an unnamed parent that was not her mother would get her, said person would let her fall asleep on his chest as he sat in our big comfy recliner in her room and there they would both snooze for a few hours, a few nights a week. No harm done, right? Rather cute, you might say - WRONG! For the past two nights when our little "angel" has woken up for her usually night time snacks, instead of peacefully drifting back to sleep, she has screamed and whined, until one of us picks her up. The MOMENT one of us holds her to our chest, she snuggles up and starts drifting off to la la land! What happens if you try and put her back down? Guess! :) Needless, to say, this is a habit that I'm hoping soon to break!

Oh, and her other front tooth cut through! At least it didn't seem to hurt as much, though I think I made it bleed as I was "brushing her teeth" tonight :( But she's eating real food like never before and making sure to bite the spoon with every mouthful!

This has been quite the week for this little one! And it's only Tuesday!

Did I mention...

...that she claps her feet? And has learned to undo her diaper?! AND she's started saying Da Da!? As you can tell, my taping skills are STELLAR! :) I can't get a video yet of the DaDa, but we'll have to get that on here soon - its so cute!

Leaps & Bounds!

This photos is from a few days ago when my sis in law brought her cutie kids over for a mini-
photo-shoot :) So fun!

However, the real story was yesterday - it seemed like my little sprout did just that and acquired a bunch of new skills and a new level of understanding over night! For starters, she has been struggling to sit up for long periods of time. Not that she "can't" really.... more that she's too squirmy to really do it for long, especially when she insists on siting bolt upright most of the time! Well, not any longer! Yesterday joe set her down and 10 min later, she was still just happily sitting there, playing with some toys as we got ready for church!

Secondly, at church she started playing this new game with the man sitting behind us - one where she'd start by giving him a nice smile, then when he smiled back, she'd bury her head in my shoulder, all shy like - Yah Right! Not this child! But it was fun to see her play with him like that!

She also decided she likes walking! For the last few weeks, she's been insisting on being held in a standing position almost always. However, yesterday she started repeatedly putting one foot in front of the other as we hold her fingers and she "dances" on tip-toes half of the time :)

All of that, combined with GINORMOUS smiles she can't seem to contain and eating PILES of food last night before bed and I have to say this girl is growing by leaps and bounds! Cliche, i know :)

The "Favre Situation"

People have asked me how I'm dealing with the "Favre Situation". To be honest, I'm sure I'm WAY less informed than current residents of Wisconsin, since when I talked to my Mom about it, she passionatly informed me of many items of which I was previously unaware which only fuled the flame of my frustration at the Packers. However, as time has gone on, I have slowly come to terms with the fact the Brett is in fact a Jet. To be honest, I think he looks kinda goofy in a Jets uniform, but whacha gonna do! So ironic that he in his Packers uniform are on the cover of Madden this year. Though I am upset at the outcome, I am going to have to stay true to my roots and remain a Packers fan, despite their blunders... with or without the only QB I have ever known as a starting Pack. But I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be listening a little a closer for updates on my favorite Jet.

Talk about sleepless nights...

Well, as mentioned before, Priya got shots the other day, while cutting teeth! Those things together, along with the occasional gas bubble, has lead to some VERY sleepless nights! Arg! For those of you who don't know, our little cutie slept through the night right off the bat! The first 2 months were night time bliss as far as sleeping - it was more than we could hope for! Unfortunately, that only lasted about 2 months when after a trip to Wisconsin she began waking up at least once a night. Now, if she sleeps till 5 without waking, we are Joyful! She never stays awake - she just wakes long enough to drink a bit of a bottle, then falls right back asleep. That is, until she got her shots. Now that, combined with her teeth, has lead to several nights of Tylenol, teething tablets, gripe water, oragel and rocking! Lots and lots of rocking! My poor baby would start to fall asleep in my arms, then just start crying again with some rediscovered discomfort or pain.

The worst part is that since last night Joe played basketball, even though Priya went to bed about nine, we didn't get to bed until MUCH later, so last night would have been short on sleep anyhow! Oh well - I just hope she starts feeling better soon... for ALL of our sakes! :)

Just to prove further what a little stinker my baby is, here's another story. This morning she was up about 6:30 wanting a bottle-that's not the stinker part, even though I would prefer she choose a more human hour. So I quick changed her diaper and gave her a bottle and put her back in bed. When she woke up again about 8:30, somehow magically her bum and the diaper were no longer together!! She had taken off her diaper, unfastening it on one side and some how wriggling out of the other! She's ONLY 6 MONTHS OLD, people! What am I going to do with this girl when she actually figures out how to get into things! Start praying for us now ;)

Crazy Times!

A TON has happened in the last week, so I'll try to do a quick run down!


Last Wed was our Anniversary - happy day to us! It was a LOT of fun! For Joe's birthday my parents had bought us tickets to go see Brian Regan - if you've never heard his stuff, you should! He is one Funny Dude! and the best thing is that his humor is clean - imagin that! Joe also brought home roses and took me to a fancy-shmancy restaurant (with the aid again of mis padres- thanks padres :) called the Chefs Table. It was SO nice! And the food was AMAZING!! Definitly a nice place to remember for very special occassions!



Speaking of special occassions, the next day was Priya's 6 month birthday!! Happy Day, cutie pants! We took her Friday to get some photos done at JC Penny and come to find out that she has cut her first tooth!! I know I know, I said she had cut a tooth a while ago, but I wasn't really looking into her mouth, just feeling, and it turns out it was just a ridge in the middle of her upper jaw. THIS tooth is on the bottom, and the one next to it is close on it's heals, resulting in a VERY drooly baby!



Sunday I took a few pics of our baby on my own since I'm not sure I'm thrilled with the stuff from Pennys... mostly, I just like their backdrops and enhancements for the photos, but I'm going to talk to a friend of mine at the Fotoshop and see if they can create some nice layouts for photos as well that we can use - that way it's MUCH cheaper, I can keep the digital images and have a much larger selection of photos to choose from :)



Today our little princess went back to the doc for her 6 month check-up! Here are the Stats:

Height:27.25 inches (92%)
Weight: 15 lb. 5 oz (35%)

The Doc says she's progressing really well and I think he was a little taken back by her sqirminess!! She's definitly a little mover and a shaker!

The funniest part came after she got her shots. She of course cried a bit, but then afterwards looked at the nurse, almost pointing at her, and gave her quite a talking to! It was so funny! It was like she was saying, "I know who did this to me and it was NOT very nice! I'm not very happy with you right now, so just you watch it, missy!"

But that's not all! On the way home - a whole 5 minute drive - she somehow mannaged to rip off ALL of her band-aids and shove at least 2 in her mouth!! I get her out of her car seat and am thinking "Ok, now where are her band-aids?... What does she have in her MOUTH?!" Little Stinker!! So Gross! But she was so happy, and quite UN-happy when I removed them from her oral cavity! Almost as unhappy as when I take away paper... but that's another story!

WIDE AWAKE

Why is it that the one night my baby actually seems to be sleeping through the night for the first time in FOREVER, I am WIDE AWAKE! I've been up since about 4 and it's about 5:30 now... and unfortunatly, I don't feel sleep coming on anytime soon :( So goes another night in the life of a new mom :)

Little Cuties :)

A week ago we had a visit from Priya's good friend Sophie, and her mom, my good friend Wendy :) These little cuties are just so fun to watch together, and are only 1 week apart in age! It's especially entertaining as they both roll around the couch and are falling all over each other!! I'm so grateful Wendy and I get to learn how to be moms together and our little lovelies can start out their amazing little lives together!

Colorado Continued

Back to Co, we had a great time. It was also great to see Anne and her family on Friday! Her husband is currently training to go overseas with the Army.

Anyway, it was BEAUTIFUL - I could definitly consider living there! Maybe it'd be a little better if it wasn't in the middle of a heat wave, but over all, it was very nice! Anne even took us to this GREAT Alpine Slide and drove us through Red Rock park as the sun was going down - nice!

"Bachelor" Party

These boys are so crazy sometimes!! :) Actually, I think it's really great that they all get along so well! Sure, it leads to some long nights of foosball, but hey! This video was taken last week at Joe's softball game... though she's not super great with food yet, I let her "eat" these rice stars because they melt fast in her mouth. As you see, the food often spends more time out of her mouth than in :)

Beautiful Colorado! with the NEW Mr. & Mrs. Forbes

Last Thursday we left for Colorado and met up with my cousin, Adam, his parents, my uncle Bill & aunt Judy, and his brother, my cousing Tod and adorable family! Since it was Uncle Bill's birthday, we went to Casa Bonita for dinner - this fun and unique restaurant with cliff divers and the works! Thursday was the sealing - BEAUTIFUL - and Friday was the Reception - INCREDIBLE! Truly, I cannot believe how amazing the reception was. The Berry's had it in their backyard. I'll have to add a few of those pics as well. Their family was SO warm and inviting - Priya ate up all of the attention and was a cute little squealer!

A Very Sad, yet Happy Day!

Yesterday was a huge milestone for Priya - She cut her first tooth! Hence the Happy, yet Sad Day! Though she's stayed remarkably happy, she's definitely had her moments!!

Sunday she also learned how to blow raspberries! (Thanks Daddy Joe!) I'll post a good video as soon as I get one!

Today was quite busy - play group, then lunch with Wendy and Sophie, some time watching the Lemke kids, Wal-Mart and a heavily mosquito attended softball game for Joe's new team from work! Whew! Of course, there were a few directionally challenging moments, as well as messy diapers just when you would want them the least to complicate the day, along with a sever LACK of bug spray! But, all in all, it was a pretty good time :) I'm just sad Priya and I missed Jon and Rainah, the newly weds, as they stopped over today! Sad! :( Well, maybe tomorrow!

Cali Continued

Just a few more details about California - We headed down to Sacramento on Friday, hung out in Fulsom for Sat and Sunday, then headed to San Francisco on Monday! We had a great time on Pier 39 etc. One of the best things about the trip was hanging out with Robert and Beth! Priya just LOVED being with her auntie and uncle! Every time Priya saw Beth, she started squealing! Monday night we met Rainahs wonderful family for dinner, then had a little Heaton family bonding back at the good ol' Travelodge! We had a great time just hanging out, then we went around the room giving Jon-o some final advice before his big day, with everyone making sure to give him the most important advice - don't listen to any of Joe's advice! ;) We love you, Joey! After everyone else went to bed, the Heaton Brothers spent a few more minutes with some final brotherly "bonding" complete with pillow fights! I never realized what a wimp Joe can be! It's also amazing how Joe manages to be the center of attention, no matter what the Heaton event! Who would have thought that'd be the case when I married this quite, laid back observer! I'll have to get some of Beth's photos of the event!

Tuesday was the wedding! Rainah & Jon looked great and the sealing (marriage) was beautiful! After, we had a little family luncheon, with some great stories by both families! We are sad we can't be there for the reception on Friday, but I'm sure it will be wonderful as well! There were some emotional and trying times,combined with a few not quite sleep-filled nights, as there often are with a small child, but all and all, a very nice trip - I cannot say enough how grateful I am for WONDERFUL family that also definitely counts as friends! :)

A New "Do"

So as you may notice (or not if you're using Google Reader :), I've finally changed the look of the blog a bit! I have to admit, I was largely inspired by Cheri who seems to have a new look to her blog about every other week! Amazing! Anyhow, I'd love to know what you think! I'm happy to tweek stuff still, so please be honest! Hope you enjoy! :)

California!

We just got back from California for Jon and Rainah's wedding! Yah them!! Unfortunatly, my camera died right after they came out of the temple!!! So, I need to just wait till I can get copies of photos from everyone else! There are a few photos from when we went to San Fransisco the day before the wedding, and a few from when we were waiting for the bride and groom to come out. Priya and Joe were especially cute yesterday as we were waiting.

Lemke Fun without us! :(

A bunch of my family just went to Door County WI last weekend and were messin around with my Dad's new 4-wheeler! Even my MOM was tearin it up! A Whole 5 MONTHS OLD!!

Our little Princess turned 5 months old yesterday! Here are the stats:

13 lbs 13 oz

&

26.75 inches

That keep her in the 29th % for weight and the 96.25th% for length! Very like her 2nd cousin Rex! (without the crankiness:) And I thought she'd put on some weight this time! I guess she just isn't meant for chunky baby-ness :)

Here are a few (ok, a lot) of photos from a quick photo shoot yesterday! Not as artistic as Cheri's, but at least their something! Maybe I'll get a chance to play with them a little one of these days! :) I'm kinda sad because a neighbor wanted to take photos of babies to build her portfolio, so I let her take some of Priya around her 4 month mark. Granted, it turned out not to be a very smiley day for her, but the neighbor hasn't ever shown me any of the pictures... I guess I figured she'd give us copies, but I guess I was wrong :( That's what I get for assuming!

Growing

You know, I just can't believe how quickly Priya is developing new skills. Just over the last 2 weeks she has really mastered the roll over (unfortunately, that means she really enjoys sleeping on her stomach, much to her mother's dismay and horror), she is cooing and "singing"(aka skreaching) all over the place and the thought and carefulness that goes into grabbing things is just amazing! You can definitely see some of her father's engineer brain functioning there as you see the wheels turning every time she's presented with a new situation! She's already fascinated with any type of harness, remote or, (thanks to Uncle Jon) cell phone! It's just amazing. The craziest thing is that I keep thinking I can wait to record this stuff, expecting each stage to last longer than it does! Sometimes I just wonder where the rewind button is on this thing! (and maybe at times the mute ;)

Blogs, Blogs Everywhere!!!

So previously I praised Google Reader and to be honest, I'm still a huge fan! I think anyone with more than 2 blogs they like to check out should DEFINITELY use it (works especially great with igoogle.com or a Google home page, by the way). In fact, I feel bad because there are a couple blogs I would LOVE to read, but literally NEVER remember to because they've been restricted from Google finding them - However, there is one draw back to fabulous Google Reader! I've now subscribed to so MANY blogs that I have a hard time finding time to post things on MY blog! But, HEY! I'm having a great time reading everyone else's! :)

Happy Birthday, Joey!

So it's Daddy Joey's birthday today! The sad part is that he's not even here so we can celebrate together! Its actually neat for him because he gets to go to Martins Cove with the youth, so you could say he gets a really awesome birthday present! Here are a few reasons why I love him :)

*He's a great dad and loves our daughter more than anything, and she loves him, as illustrated in the video below!

*He's patient and keeps working at things even when it seems like we could not be from more distant planets!

*He's funny, even when I pretend he isn't (shh.. don't tell him that!) :)

*He's religious and faithful and always striving to stay worthy to hold the Priesthood

*He comes from a wonderful family that I love!

*He loves my family as if they were his own

*He can and WILL fix anything you place in front of him, even if you don't want him to!

All in all, he's a pretty great guy! Love you Joey! Can't wait for you to come home! Oh, and if you're wondering why the photos of Joe really aren't very much of Joe... well, I recently had to do a PC "clense" we shall call it, and so my photos etc are very limited currently to pull from! That's ok, he's got a cute side-kick at least! ;)

Best Kept Secret - the FOOD NETWORK!!!

SO.. I'm a new Food Network junkie... more for the compitition shows and Ace of Cakes... ok and maybe Good Eats and Unwrapped sometimes, I do confess! I love it!! So I've started telling my friends about my new addition and guess what - they're all like - "oh yah -I watch FN all the time" Why did no one share this treasure with me YEARS ago!!! I could have avoided watching rerun after rerun of Charmed and Law and Order! Thanks for keepin me out of the loop. guys! Shesh!

K, so yesterday I found one of these headbands that lets you change what crazy flowers etc you have attached to your baby's head. Normally, Priya is more of a bow-glued-to-my-head type of girl, but I though I'd give it a shot... However now I'm not sure if I wanna keep them or take them back! LOL - SO I've decided to make a poll!!! On the right hand side of this page there SHOULD be a poll where you can answer and help us solve this MAJOR dilemma! Thanks for helping us decide in this important matter!

I am SO behind in my blogging! so we're just gonna have to blog by date for a while! On June 7th our ward did a service project at a local facility named RAH. Since Priya decided it was going to be a fussy morning, I decided I could probably best help by taking photos while pushing the stroller (since the moment I stopped anywhere, the crabbing started up again :) BABIES!! Who do they think they are! ;) So here are a view photos from RAH! It was a ton of fun and I'm glad we could go, even if Priya and I couldn't do a whole lot to help.

Last night she started busting out some of her best laughing fits yet! Especially listen to the 2nd half of the vid - I guess she must think Uncle Jon-o is pretty funny :)

First Cereal!!

Ok, so my baby is pretty young for cereal, but the nurse at my docs office said as long as she could support her head and chest, she was fine. So, we gave it a try! Here are a few videos documenting our attempt. My little big girl!

Oh, and for the record, she can sit up just fine - She was just SUPER fascinated with her straps for some reason and was forcefully pushing her head towards them! Silly Baby!

Get LOST! (and a cutie video:)

So, last Tues we had our friends the Masons over to watch the season finale of LOST! I got addicted to it soon after Priya was born since every single episode from the begining of season 1 is online at abc.com and it was a little difficult to do much else while I spent many hours a day doing... mommy stuff (pumping) when I could do little more than just sit like a lump in a chair, waiting for my "mommy stuff" to run out, so to speak :)

Well, I missed the finale while my GREAT friend Anne and her kids were here (photos to come!) so Dave and Heather said they would "Suffer" through watching it a second time while I saw it for the first! WOW! I love LOST!!! I only hate that now that I'm used to watching episodes on demand, more or less, I now have to wait till FEBRUARY to see a new episode!! Priya will be ONE by then!!! Cruel, Cruel fate - Actually, Alysse is the one to blame in all this since she always seemed to be over here on a Thursday night and wanted to watch Lost with me, but I'd refuse since I hadn't ever seen it! Or is it Brooke since it's because of her I knew they were all online! :) Just kidding, i'm glad they got me hooked! It's a great show!

Well, moving on, the Masons of course brought their 6 week old son, Rhys! What a cutie! I have to say this is the first time Priya has looked like the "Big Kid" in any situation! :) Since I've been wanting to mess with Windows Video Creator, I decided to experiment with the video/photos we took the other night and just quick make a little video. It's nothing special and I was just messin around, but hopefully you think it's as cute as I do!

PS, sorry for my daughters slightly annoying singing/crying during the whole video! It really seemed like she was just trying to get his attention! So cute! But in the words of my brother Dru, "Hey! Crying - it's what babies DO!"

One of those days

Arg. Today is one of those days when you feel like you're failing at everything. How could I possible be getting every single role in my human life wrong? Arg. At least I have the smiles of my little angel... I just hope I don't mess her up too bad! She is SO sweet and sometimes I just have... one of those days.

A New Throne!

Speaking of PB&J....

My friend Julie blogged about Peanut Butter and Jelly... The funny thing is, as I commented on Julies's blog, I've been absolutly STARVING for Skippy Creamy Peanut butter since, oh,Priya was born almost 4 months ago! I eat the HUGE containers of it all by my self, one gigantic spoonfull after another! I simply canNOT get enough! So the other day I had peanut butter on a piece of toasted bread in Julie's honor! Toast to Julie! - what's extra ironic, at least to me, is that I just realized last week that with Priya, Bree & Joe, we make our own PB&J!

So much to Blog, So little Time

Wow - time just flies by and there's always so much I'd love to share with family and friends and blog about, yet it seems like by the time I actually get a sec, 5 other things have happened I'd love to share and i just don't even know where to start! With just normal baby cute moments, lots of AWESOME visitors, new milestones and photo shoots, there's plenty to share - as long as I don't have a brain malfunction and forget it all! SO I guess I guess I'll just do my best and hopefully it's not too lame for you all! :)
